Our promises

Five promises we make to ourselves.

You can tell a serious project by what it promises, but also by what it refuses to do. Here is what we commit to keeping, and what we refuse to do.

Promise 1

We never lie on a signed paper

A signed paper tells what was really seen. It is not a diploma, it is not a qualification, and we say so clearly. Its value comes from its honesty.

Promise 2

What concerns you stays protected

We only ask for the information we really need, we keep it in a safe place, and we never use it for anything other than what was planned. A written charter sets the rule for each use.

Promise 3

Everyone's money serves everyone

Money given for the association's mission serves that mission, and nothing else. Nobody puts it in their pocket. The accounts are kept separately and can be checked.

Promise 4

Nobody is judge and party

The association's important decisions are taken according to clear rules, by people who have no personal interest in them. When a situation is delicate, it is written down and framed.

Promise 5

We move step by step (the green light rule)

Like at a pedestrian crossing, you only cross when it is green: a step only starts if the one before is really finished. We never say "it's done" until it is done.

The common thread

Saying where we really are

The association is being born. No money has been obtained yet. We always talk about what has been done, never about what we merely hope for.

The two engines, kept well apart, in plain words

LA LETTRE has two engines: the association, which works for everyone's benefit without seeking to make money, and the tool that serves it, the video game and the company that makes it. They move forward together, but each has its own cash box, its own accounts and its own rules.

They help each other

The tool feeds the mission, the mission gives the tool a meaning. That is what makes the project alive and useful.

They do not mix their money

Two cash boxes, two sets of accounts, two ways of deciding. Money given to the association never finances the company.

And it can be checked

This separation is written down in black and white. It can be shown at any time to anyone who wants to check it.

How much it costs, roughly

To play fair, here are the orders of magnitude of the project. These are not sums already obtained, nor sums already committed: they are landmarks, which will be refined with partners, under agreement.

StepOrder of magnitudeWhere we are
The first trial (Carami)≈ €20,000To be funded
The lasting workshop (Burel)≈ €185,000To be funded
Sum to gather before launching the Burel workshop≈ €175,000Condition

Three scenarios are being studied (cautious, middle, high). Detailed figures are reserved for discussions under agreement.

In short: we ask to be judged on facts. We would rather promise less and keep our word, than promise a lot and disappoint.
